Email Address Collector is an email address extraction utility designed to extract email addresses from almost any local source, such as email folders, documents or address books. This Frequently Asked Questions section was composed using the most popular questions that our users asked us over time.

Email Address Collector does not open! How can I fix it?

When Email Address Collector starts, it scans your Windows profile for email folders and address books. If you have some really large email folders, it may take a while for Email Address Collector to load. Please be patient and don’t close its loading window.

Email Address Collector seems to hang on the loading screen... it does not proceed to open the main window. Why?

Most likely, Email Address Collector encountered some problems loading your Outlook data. Try by starting Outlook before you start Email Address Collector. If it still fails, run a Detect & Repair job (“Office Diagnostics” in Outlook 2007) over your Outlook data file, maybe it is corrupted. You can access the Detect & Repair tool from the Outlook Help menu. Please note that, starting with Outlook 2010, this option was removed from the Outlook interface, but can be found in Control Panel – Programs – Office 2010.

I ran Email Address Collector over my folders but it did not extract any email address! Why?

Please make sure you properly selected the folders or email folders from which to extract addresses. You have to mark the checkbox for each folder (you can use the right click menu to mark all folders/subfolders), the right click over your folders and choose “Extract from checked folders”.

How can I save the extracted email addresses?

You can save the extracted addresses by using the File -> Save menu option. You can also save them to the Windows Clipboard by right clicking over the extract list and choosing “Copy to Clipboard”.

Can I extract only email addresses that belong to a certain domain name?

Yes, you can filter the extraction process by choosing “Filter” when you are asked about it, before the extraction starts. On the Filter window, use the “Domain restrictions” option to extract only (or alternatively to exclude) email addresses belonging to the domain name(s) you specify.

Can I extract email addresses only from emails received during a certain period of time?

Yes, you can setup a filter that makes Email Address Collector scan only email messages received during a specified period of time. This filter option is available in the Messages filter tab and it’s called “Date restriction”.

What is the latest product version? How do I know if an update is available?

The latest Email Address Collector version is 5.0.123.0. You can always check for updates by using the updates button available from the Help menu of the Email Address Collector toolbar.
